N8729A …
I spent several summers as a youngster, in Pensacola FL, sitting on a box at the fence line at the NAS watching promising new naval aviators learning to fly. Hundreds of bright yellow SNJ’s were lined up on the ramp in the morning sun. All day long they went round and round the pattern doing touch and goes. The noise was deafening! The one pictured below just happened by my office a few days ago. I grabbed this photo as the owner refueled.
Once I started working at various jobs while in college, I managed to scrap together enough to get my private pilots license from a local flight instructor – and that in itself is a story worth telling – but not here, not today!
Like a lot of things technical, flying is a challenge to learn and understand everything from aerodynamics to weather.
Its been a great teacher and I’m still learning every day!
More on this subject later!
